Relocation expenses

My employer reimburse me for relocation expenses happened in July 2024. But didn’t report them on my 2024 W2. Instead they reported these expenses in February of 2025 on my pay stubs. So relocation expenses will be included on my 2025 W2. Should I wait for next tax year and report my expenses then or I need to do something this year? Thanks.

As an employee, you cannot take a deduction for relocation expenses as employee job related expenses are no longer tax deductible on your federal return.  Depending on which state you live in, they may or may not be deductible.

However, you should contact your employer to get the timing of the payment and inclusion in your income corrected if your employer actually paid the expenses in July of 2024, they should be included on your 2024 W-2.
