Yes, you can.

To do that in TurboTax:

  1. Select Federal.
  2. Click on Other Tax Situations toward the upper right corner.
  3. Expand the list and find Additional Tax Payments, expand the section.
  4. Find  Apply Refund to Next Year click Start or Revisit to the right.
  5. Select Apply all or part of it toward next year's tax bill.
  6. Click Continue and enter the amount you want to apply to next year.
  7. The balance will be refunded to you.

JulieS,  Thank you for your quick response.  As I have a refund, do I still need to pay Estimated Tax?  Why TT has calculated Estimated Tax when there is no tax due?  Highly appreciated.

You might still need to pay estimated taxes even if you received a refund for your 2021 return.  It all depends on the nature of your income and whether you may have had enough taxes withheld to cover your taxes owed.

If TurboTax has included estimated payment vouchers for 2022 as part of your 2021 return, there may be a good reason.  However, you are not required to make those payments if you choose not to do so.  The vouchers are there for your use only and have not been sent to the IRS.

See the following TurboTax help article for more information:

Why did 1040-ES estimated tax vouchers print out? Do I need them?
