I am a Non-Resident Alien for U.S. tax purposes and will be filing Form 1040NR for the 2024 tax year.
For mailing purposes, I would prefer to use a reliable U.S. address (a friend’s residence) rather than an international address, in order to receive any IRS correspondence more quickly and reliably.
Are there any potential downsides to using a U.S. address in this situation? Could it raise any red flags with the IRS or affect my non-resident status in any way?
Any guidance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
