Prior Year Returns

Because of a sale of rental property in 2019 I had a CPA firm prepare my taxes.  I do have some loss carryovers.  I was not provided an electronic copy of the return.  How can I enter my 2019 return into TurboTax so that all carryforwards will taken into consideration?

Most versions of TurboTax will allow you to enter various carryforwards manually.

Obviously, you have to know the correct amounts to enter but the program will walk you through the steps.

Regardless, there is no way to transfer the carryforwards into TurboTax from a professional tax preparation product (i.e., the program your CPA was using).

I need to file an amended return for 2019.

I cant find my license code for the Premier version of Turbotax 2019 that I used for the return I filed.

Can I purchase another license code for Turbotax 2019 premier that I can use to amend the earlier return?

How do I access the worksheet for a prior year's return?

@CG311 You can locate the worksheets that were included in your tax return by accessing a complete copy of your tax return from the Print Center. The PDF file of your tax return, that is located on the tax home page will not include the worksheets.

Please see the steps below to obtain a complete copy of your tax return which would include all worksheets:

  1. Sign in to your account (if you haven't already done so), using the same login you used to file your return.

  2. Scroll down to My Tax Returns and Documents and click on show.

  3. Next scroll down and click on Add a State (you are not really adding a state, this will allow you to get back into the program.)

  4. In the left side panel click on Tax Tools then click on Print Center.

  5. Next select Print, save or preview this year's return.

  6. Then select the option to print your (Prior year needed) federal and state returns (shortest version). You can also select the option to Include government worksheets (optional) (medium-length version)
