Payment to state

Last year after review of the Tax Payments Worksheet we realized we, in error, we entered the State Distribution amount from Box 14 into Box 12 (State Tax Withheld) when entering a 1099-R.  As the return was filed, we immediately filed an amended return to fix actual taxable amount of Box 12 and submitted a payment to the state.  We have now received a 1099-G which I know where to enter, but where to we enter the payment that we made to state.  Thanks in advance!

Yes, state income tax paid in 2016 as tax due for your state tax return filing is part of your itemized deductions.

1. Federal Taxes

2. Deductions & Credits

3. Scroll down to Estimates and Other Taxes Paid

4. Select Other Income Taxes and select Balance due on your 2015 state taxes paid in 2016
