1. During COVID, call your bank and they will help you get the lowest cost option for your type of account.
2. After doing 1, rededicate yourself to keeping the minimum balance that your bank recommends. This is probably 1X or 2X your monthly bank service fee. If this still doesn't work for you, close the account. Then put the money you have in a jar at home. Take money out when you need it.
3. If you have a debit card that works with an ATM, drive through and check your balance often.
4. Better yet, if you have a cell phone, load your bank's app on it. Then it is easier to check your balance often. As above, keep a balance that is 2X your service fee.
