OID

I have entered $3,449.97 from box 1 of my 1099 as OID.  The TTax income summary says I entered $932.  Where could the difference be coming from?

Check to see if this is reported correctly in Turbo Tax. If using Turbo Tax online:

  1. Go to the Black panel in the left pane of your program
  2. Go to tax tools
  3. Tools
  4. View Tax Summary
  5. Now look at your left pane and select Preview my 1040
  6. See if the amount is reflected correctly in Box 2B of the 1040.

If using desktop, go to your forms mode in your return and look at Box 2B on the 1040 to see if the income recorded correctly.

I am not sure why the discrepancy. You might checked where you entered the 1099 OID and see if you recorded the correct entry.  If you are using Turbo Tax online, go to the section that says 1099-OID Foreign Accounts. If this is the summary amount you are looking at, check to see if there were other entries made that affected this summary total. If working in desktop, go to forms and select form 1099 OID that is listed under Schedule B. Select that form to see if there are other entries on that form that may affect the summary amount listed.
