NY Inflation Refund problem filing

I put my NY Inflation Refund ($150) under State and Local Tax Refunds on Form 1099-G. I did it for the tax year 2023. Payments and withholdings $0. I always do a standard deduction for both state and local taxes. When I do the final review however this error comes up that it says must be fixed

Check This Entry:

State Tax Refund Worksheet: Payments and withholding must exceed sum of individual payments. It looks like the total amount you entered from your 2023 NY tax return is less than the individual payments you made that year (estimated tax, extension payment, or payment when you filed your return). It should be higher than, or at least equal to your payments. Take a look at those numbers and update your total payments and withholding for your 2023 New York tax return. If you need to change one of the other payments, go back to the tax payments area to make updates.

I do not know how to fix this. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Are you using desktop or online. If you are using desktop, you may need to do a manual update.  This was an issue that was resolved several days ago.

I am using the desktop version and I just installed it yesterday. My computer (a Mac) says it is up to date.

Since you took the standard deduction in 2023, you received no federal tax benefit from the state taxes you paid that year. Therefore, the IRS does not require you to report this $150 as income. Follow these steps to clear the error:

  1. Delete the 1099-G entry:
  2. Go to Federal > Wages & Income.
  3. Find the section for Other Common Income > State and Local Tax Refunds on Form 1099-G.
  4. Click the trash can icon (delete) next to the $150 entry you created.
  5. Log out or close the program to save the changes

Now log back to check if you still receive the error message.
