Need to reset my 2018 amend forms

I am trying to amend my 2018 taxes and not sure how, but i pretty much messed up things. Is there a way to reset turbotax to the same point as if I clicked on "amend" the very first time?

if i were to delete all the forms in tools would i lose everything including the original tax return or just the amended section?

thank you

To cancel or undo an amended return in the TurboTax CD/Download software, follow this process to correctly "unamend" your federal return:

  1. Open your return.
  2. Switch to Forms Mode (Windows instructions | Mac instructions).
  3. In the left pane, select Form 1040X.
    • Windows: After the form is generated in the right pane, click the Delete Form button at the bottom of the window.
    • Mac: From the Forms menu, select Remove Form 1040X.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to remove the 1040X from your return.
  5. Switch back to interview mode by clicking Step-by-Step in the upper right corner (Windows) or EasyStep in the upper left corner (Mac).
  6. Important: Undo any changes you made to your return after you selected the option to amend your 2019 return, as deleting your 1040X won't undo those entries.

State Amendments

The best way to "unamend" your state return is to go through your state return from the beginning and keep your eyes peeled for amend-related screens or questions.

The amend question usually appears right at the beginning or towards the end of the state interview (never in the middle).

Correct any entries that have to do with an amended return, for example:

  • Answer No when asked if you want to amend.
    • However, in a few state programs, you have to answer Yes to the amend question so you can revisit the screens that contain the information you want to delete.
  • Clear any amend-related checkboxes you see.
  • Delete entries in the tax year field.

If you still can't get rid of your state amendment form, try clearing your state return and starting over.

You are showing a picture of your online account. The only way to amend is to download the program on to your computer. The steps outlined are for after you open the downloaded program on your computer.

Are you sure you amended your return? Did you download the program?

You definitely do not want to delete the original forms. You can click on add a state just to go in and look around at your return.

If you need to download the software to amend, click on Amend.

What happens when you click on Amend for 2018?  I think there is a new thing where you can amend a 2018 return online. What steps did it give you?  Here is the amend article but it just says to follow the steps.

So, here is the story, I got a CP2000 from the IRS because i did not include a 1099MISC for 2018 return. I dont need to amend the Fed return because i am accepting the terms offered by the IRS on the CP2000 BUT i still need to apply this modification to the state returns (two states) and  hence my interest is mostly on the state return. However although i logging in the correct info one state (the MD one) is not changing which is not right so i was trying to reset the numbers to what they were before i started amending.
