need to fix this error.Reject Code F1040-516-01

Please assist with fixing the error Reject Code

It looks like your Social Security number (SSN) was used as a dependent on another return filed for this year.

 

Review your information to check that your name and SSN match the information on your SS card.  If the information does not match, correct it and resubmit your return.  

 

If the information matches, you will need to get an IP PIN from the IRS's Get an IP PIN site, enter it in your return and resubmitting your return.

 

If you do get an IP PIN to enter it in your return:

 

  1. Open your return
  2. Go to IP PIN
  3. On the Identity Protection PIN screen, answer Yes. Select Add and enter your IP PIN in the space provided.
  4. Select Continue, then select Done.
