TT pitches the merits of each version. And for 20 yrs I have used the Basic disk version for rental properties, depreciation, rehabs, buy/sell stocks, foreign income, foreign tax, etc and have found Basic just great. No State tax return required in Texas. The TT pitches for each version don't really distinguish why I would pay more for the fancier version when Basic does all that I need very easily. Maybe the fancier version asks more questions for the less knowledgeable? Anyone offer a more straightforward answer why pay more?
The Downloaded Basic program can handle ALL the same situations and forms as all the others so if Basic is working fine for you then don't spend any more for something you don't need. Avoid the upgrade ploy to get you to part with more of your money for no reason.
The ONLY difference between the Basic and the all the other programs is the inclusion of a state program you don't need and the ability to import donations from the "It's Deductible" tool.
