What is the specific and explicit reject message or reject code you are getting after you click the orange TRANSMIT MY RETURNS NOW button?

Federal return rejection
Reject Code F8962-070

Description of error:
The e-File database indicates that Form 8962 or a binary attachment with description containing "ACA Explanation" must be present in the return.
What needs to be done:
The IRS rejected your return due to missing information regarding the Advance Premium Tax Credit. You will need form 1095-A to provide this information. The ACA Marketplace providers have until 1/31/22 provide the 1095-A to taxpayers.

The IRS believes you have a form 1095-A that needs to be added. To see whether or not you do have the form, you will have to log into Heathcare.gov and download the 1095-A. It also may be arriving in the mail.  Once you receive or download it, go back to Turbo Tax and include that form.

I having the same problem. I went to the healthcare.gov site and  I don't see any 1095-A form to download. I don't know what to do. It keeps rejecting my return. I did not have this problem before since 2012 that I have used Turbotax. All I had to click on no I don't have any 1095-A form and it gets filed. What about  if I don't get a 1095-A form from marketplace, what should i do then, no file?

Code F8962-070 is coming from the IRS, rejecting the return because it does not include information they are expecting, based on their information from Healthcare.gov. If you hare already checked online at Healthcare.gov for 1095-A information, you may wish to call them and see if there is any reason they would have told the IRS to expect the form. Sometimes if you or someone on your return begins an application but does not actually enroll for insurance, that is enough to trigger this. You can reach them at:

1-800-318-2596
(TTY: 1-855-889-4325)

Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (except holidays)

Yes. Here is how:

  1. Log into your return
  2. Go to the federal section
  3. Select deductions and credits
  4. Scroll down to Medical
  5. Affordable Care Act (Form 1095-A), Start/ Select/ Edit
  6. Continue through the steps entering your form

Mine too! I never had insurance and I keep getting rejected for this form. I’ve called marketplace twice, turbo live twice, went to another tax app and same thing. Called the irs and no one knows anything.

That does not help me at all. I don’t have nor will I ever get this form. I did not have insurance, at all! I’ve spoken to the irs and they don’t even see the rejection and say it’s an error on the tax preparer software or something else.

For help with this experience please follow the steps below.

  • When revisiting the section the default answer is still set to yes but the 8962 and 1095A are not part of the return.
  • If you select Yes you will be prompted to enter the 1095A information and you cannot continue leaving the full form blank as an error will be presented.
  • Now you will not be prompted with the yes/no question to receiving the 1095A and will see your entry with options to edit/delete the entry.
  • Delete the 1095A entry and both the 1095A and 8962 are removed from the return.
  • If you revisit the section again, the default will be yes but the forms are removed
  • Now, select No, efile your return, and if you are rejected, the IRS requires your 1095A in the return.

If these steps don't resolve this experience, please reply to this thread for further assistance.

I did receive a 1095-A in the mail, I put in the information, tried to refile and still got another rejection. Now turbotax states that I can't refile until after February 3rd because of an issue that needs correcting on their end

We are experiencing the same issue as well. Does anyone know when turbo tax is going to fix this issue on their end. This is absolutely ridiculous. Since it’s rejected, can’t I file elsewhere since they aren’t getting their stuff together?

I tried another tax prep site and still got rejected. It’s been an endless circle and not one person has been helpful in fixing it. Turbo tax keeps telling me to wait for a form I’ll never get or contact the irs. The irs says it must be the software because they have no record of my rejection. So stressful!

I've been doing my taxes for four years straight on here and this is unacceptable. I never had health insurance yet the software keeps rejecting me. What is the solution because I'll give it 24hours before I go some place else. Plenty of online tax companies.

What is expected to be fixed? The fact that when I select no under the ACA since I didn't have health insurance it won't reject me saying that I still need the form? How will I be notified that this problem has been corrected?

I have gone ahead and filled the form out with all 0s and 1s because I don't have the document it is requesting. Deleted the form. Gone back and changed it to "No I didn't receive form 1095-A" and hit continue. Click ahead to the file tab, and then immediately back to the ACA tab and it still says "Yes, I received Form 1095-A" as if I never clicked the alternative option. This needs to be fixed as soon as possible.

Same here! I have spoken to everyone I can and no resolution. I tried tax act and it didn’t go through either but they at least tried to help me. Everyone says to mail it

Mine too. Defaults back to yes and I think it triggered something because I couldn’t even get it to work on a different tax prep site. Turbo tax still says it’s not them but the irs disagrees. They can’t even see my multiple rejections and have no record of the code.

If you were not covered at all through the Marketplace, then it is possible that form 8962 is hanging in your return.  If you are not covered, you can take these steps to fix it and resubmit your return.

  • Click Deductions and Credits
  • Scroll down to Medical and Click Show More
  • Click Start or Revisit next to the ACA
  • As you walk through the questions, you will be asked if you received a 1095-A.  If you did NOT, click YES.
  • You will need to put a little information in the form and enter $1 for the January amounts
  • Delete the 1095A entry
  • Go to Tax Tools>>Tools>>Delete a form then verify there is no form 8962 or 1095A showing.  It should not be.  If it is, click delete a form.
  • You can then resubmit your return.

Each time you go back through that section, it will revert back to yes.  So, once you have completed these steps, do not go back to that section.

Thank you for this reply. However, when I follow your instructions it is forcing me to enter information in the 1095 before I can hit continue.
