My bar disappeared

Our taxes were accepted on the 12th. Our bar was up on the website and a few days later it disappeared and now says “Your tax return is still being processed. A refund date will be provided when available.” Is something wrong? Don’t remember this ever having this happening before. We’re at 3 weeks today since we received the email saying that our return was accepted. Is there anything I should do?

Mine did the same thing.  Hard to say and honestly, if anyone suggests it means this or that, I would take it with a grain of salt.  It could mean they are behind in processing refunds, they need further review, they sent you some type of letter asking for more info, or simply it's in the final stages of being approved.  If I remember correctly, last year this same message continued to be displayed even after direct deposits hit accounts for some.  I suspect with all the stimulus money issued, they have implemented more controls and it is just taking a bit longer than usual.

Hi

I also filed and got accepted on the 12th and it said accepted for a week or so on IRS and then a couple days ago I got the same message... your tax return is still being processed and we will provide a date when available. I have heard a lot of people on different forums says they have the same thing. So I am hopeful that it’s just how it is this year. I don’t think there could be a problem with that many people’s returns. I hope it comes quick because I need that money to get by right now. As I’m sure everyone does

@JJBauer1, we have gotten many comments and messages regarding the IRS Where’s My Refund Tool having your orange status bar disappearing. This has to do with the irs.gov where’s my refund site having too much traffic and lagging. This is causing images not to display and information about your federal tax return to not show up. This has happened every year since the tool was first available. This has nothing to do with you being flagged or your return being denied.

The IRS issues most refunds from e-filed returns in about 21 days, although some returns take more time to review. The IRS issues refunds, not TurboTax. This means that we can't say for sure why you haven’t received your refund if it's been longer than 21 days since you e-filed. You'll have to speak directly to IRS to find out more about the delay. For more information, please see the FAQ link provided below:

When will I get my IRS tax refund, it’s been more than 21 days
