My 2019 returns keep getting rejected. The reason TT application gives is: The XML data has failed schema validation. TT is updated to the latest version as of 06/21/2020

I think we need to get new 6 digit PINs.

Go here and half way down the page you will see a blue navigation button. Click that and set up an account and request a new PIN. Anyone who signs the return needs a new one it seems.

This is a known issue that began about mid-afternoon today (Sunday.)   Several users are reporting they have been impacted by rejection error X0000-005 .     We have reported it to a TurboTax Moderator, but they may not be able to investigate it until tomorrow.

Hold off for now, and something may reset tonight that lets you efile tomorrow.

Or if you want to phone Support, they are open this evening.  Here's how.

Hours are 5AM-9PM Pacific (8AM-12 Midnight Eastern) 7 days.

Only certain people need a 6-digit IP PIN.   A 6-digit IP PIN is a special Identity Protection PIN assigned by the IRS to certain victims of ID theft or to folks who have opted into the IP PIN program.   If you have used an IP PIN in the past, then you will always have to use one.    It is true that everyone who has been assigned an IP PIN by the IRS in the past does need a new one each year, but there is no indication that this XML rejection problem is due to an IP PIN.  An IP PIN rejection has a specific rejection error code and a clear cut solution.

We don't know yet what is causing the X0000-005 rejection for a lot of users this afternoon, and there likely won't be any word until tomorrow.
