Morgan Stanely At Work Import

Trying to connect to Morgan Stanely at Work to import data. Have enabled permission on Morgan Stanely to share with Turbo Tax.

Every time I try over the last 4 days, I get this error message:

Morgan Stanley at Work

There was an error importing from this financial institution.

Try again in a few hours or enter your info a different way.

If you are using TurboTax Online, try importing using a different browser.

See the following TurboTax Help articles for potential fixes:

Unfortunately, a different browser didn't work. Tried it with Chrome, Firefox, and the actual TurboTax app on my iOS device.

Continues to say there is a technical issue and there was an error importing from the financial institution.

Same issue here. Someone from intuit please chime in.

I tried again this morning and get this new message.

Weird that it says no tax forms but then gives import date options...

Here are some steps from a TurboTax help article that might help your issue importing your Morgan Stanley at Work stock plan info into TurboTax:

  1. Sign in to your Morgan Stanley at Work stock plan account.
  2. On the Dashboard, under Tasks, find the Share documents with TurboTax tile and select Choose preference.
  3. When prompted, select Yes, share documents with TurboTax.

If you can't find the tile:

  1. Select your name from the menu, then select View profile.
  2. Select Personal Profile.
  3. Select Edit Personal Profile.
  4. Set TurboTax document sharing to Yes.

How do I connect my Morgan Stanley at Work account to TurboTax?

Sadly not it either.... I don't think the import is ever going to work at this point.

Started with the error after enable of share of data.
Then said it could import on 2/23

Then said under maintenance until 2/26

Today says it "can" import on 2/28

If you're using TurboTax Online, and can download a PDF of your 1099-Div and 1099-B to your computer, you could make a manual entry for the total amount of 1099-Div income.

Then you can attach a PDF of your 1099-B to your tax return.

For TurboTax Desktop, it appears you'll have to wait until February 28th, or here's How to Enter a Summary in Lieu of Individual Transactions.

I have the same problem trying to import my 1099-B from Morgan Stanley at work. The desktop version does now say it will be available on Feb 28 but this is the 4th date it has given. First it was Feb 16 and then it keeps moving. Seriously, is it ever going to work????

Now I'm able to connect and import, but it only imports my 1099-DIV, but not recognizing 1099-B. Is anyone else on the same boat? I downloaded the PDF from Morgan Stanley at work and saw both 1099-DIV and 1099-B in the same file.

Yes, I have the same problem. It only shows the 1099-DIV and not the 1099-B. It's very annoying.

Since you downloaded a .PDF of the IRS form 1099-B, you may enter the summary information instead of each individual transaction.  Follow these steps in TurboTax Premium Online.

  1. Down the left side of the screen, click Federal.
  2. Down the left side of the screen, click Wages & Income.
  3. Click the down arrow to the right of Investments and Savings.
  4. Click to the right of Stocks, Cryptocurrency, Mutual Funds, Bonds, Other (1099-B).
  5. Click Add investments.
  6. On the Let's import your tax info screen, select Enter a different way.
  7. On the OK, let's start with one investment type screen, select Stocks, Bonds, Mutual Funds, then Continue.
  8. At the screen Which bank or brokerage, enter the information.  Click Continue.
  9. Do these sales include any employee stock, enter No.
  10. Do you have more than three sales, enter Yes.
  11. Do these sales include any other types of investments, enter No.
  12. Did you buy every investment listed, enter Yes.  Continue.
  13. On the screen Now, choose how to enter your sales, select Sales section totals.  Select Continue.
  14. At the screen Look for your sales on your 1099-B, select Continue.
  15.
  16. You will now be able to enter the total proceeds (sales) and cost basis, along with the sales category. Refer to your IRS form 1099-BIRS form 8949 and / or Schedule D Capital Gains and Losses for the amounts and category. When finished, select Continue
  17. You can add additional sales totals by selecting the Add another sales total on the Review your sales section totals screen.
  18. When completed, close the record and click Continue.
  19.  At the screen Now, we'll help you upload your 1099-B since the IRS requires a copy, browse and select your document.  Select Continue.
  20. When you upload your document, your filing instructions will not show that anything needs to be mailed in, and no IRS form 8453 will be generated.

I know it's possible to manually enter 1099-B, but many of us purchase TurboTax because it can import the forms so TurboTax should fix this.

I tried again and just now it can import both 1099-DIV and 1099-B so the problem is fixed, finally. I hope TurboTax could improve the communication regarding such issues in the future.

Hi, just curious how did you get it fixed? I'm still getting "1099 forms not available for user ID" even though I have turned on document sharing on Personal profile. Is this is completely random?

I didn't do anything to fix it actually. Just one day I logged in and tried it and fully expected it to fail again but it worked. I was finally able to finish my taxes and move on but it was extremely painful and unpleasant.

If you're getting the 'forms not available' error try disabling your anti-virus programs; you may not be getting a good connection to your broker's server.  Here's How to Turn Off Anti-Virus Programs.

Yes, this is completely random; most are able to import successfully, but since we can't know your system configurations, it's difficult to diagnose individual situations.

If you're using TurboTax Online, clear your Cache and Cookies between attempts.

If you're using TurboTax Desktop, try a Manual Update.

Thanks, I'm on a Mac (Sequoia 15.3.2 (24D81) with TurboTax Desktop Premier version.
This happens every year, Morgan Stanley or TurboTax, I have to change using one of those next year.

Me too. Usually I use TurboTax Deluxe but I had sold stock this year so I got Premier and it's been a nightmare. I believe the issue is with TurboTax and am considering an alternative next time I sell stock. Thankfully mine finally imported and I could finish my taxes. I wish you luck.

did you used PDF from Morgan Stanley at work? I used PDF to import it into Turbo Tax. It only imported 1099-DIV, not 1099-B. Please tell how can i import both? Both form are combined in same PDF file.

I just selected import and Morgan Stanley at work. At first the only form that showed up was the DIV one but finally one day they both showed up.
