Lump Sum Social Security Overlaping 2 years

My spouse is planning to receive a lump sum social security in 2025 that covers 2025 and 2024.  Understanding the 2024 amount will be applied to taxes for 2025, can she file using married filing separately in 2025 if married filing joint was used in 2024? I assume it's ok but want to verify. I assume TurboTax figures this out.

You can file separate for 2025, but it may not be to your benefit- the base amount is $0 if you are married filing separately and lived with your spouse at any time during 2025.
