Local Wages on W2

Hi,

My employer is in MA and I lived in MA partly and moved to OR for rest of the year. Will there be any local wage for OR as I have an amount in local wage box?

In what scenario I am eligible for local wages and how it is calculated as I feel like TurboTax tool is not calculating correctly .

It depends.  Oregon (OR) does have some jurisdictions that collect local income tax.  Check with your city or county where you live to see if yours is one of them. Only the wages earned while you actually lived in OR will be considered if your area does have local income tax. You can check your pay stubs immediately before the move to figure out how much of your earnings/wages was from your OR residency.

TurboTax only prepares a few city or local tax returns as an extra step in your state return.  For most local tax returns you are on your own.  You may have to ask around amongst your neighbors, etc. to find out if you have a local tax and how to pay it. “Google “ local tax for your area.  Call your city government, etc.  Your only record of paying your local tax will be your own bank/credit card records
