IRA Contribution

Hello,

I don't have an IRA but I cannot file my taxes because it says I need to enter a value for line 26 of my IRA Contributions Worksheet. I tried to enter 0 but it said there was an error.

You may have accidently indicated that you made an IRA contribution. If you didn't make any contribution, here's how to correct it:

  1. Sign in to TurboTax and open or continue your return.
  2. Select Federal, Deductions & Credits
  3.  On the Your tax breaks screen, scroll down to Retirement and Investments
  4. Select Update next to Traditional and Roth IRA Contributions.
  5.  On the Traditional IRA  and Roth IRA screen, see if you checked any of the boxes and uncheck them.
  6. Continue with the onscreen interview until complete.

Hmmm I did that and it still wants me to "fix my return". I went in and checked the box next to none of the above when it asked if I had any type of IRA.

Did that fix the problem?  Because that was the correct box to check for you.

It did not. Still says there is a problem with my return and brings up that IRA Worksheet again.

Open up your return and go to tax tools>tools>delete a form.  Look for the IRA worksheet in the list of forms and see if you can delete it. let us know if this works.
