IP PIN Input

When finishing my taxes for my wife and I, filing joint return, it asks for a 5-digit number for each of us. Since last year's taxes, the IRS requires a 6-digit code that either you get logging into each of our accounts or is mailed to you if did not go paperless. The 5-digit number is worthless. You have to follow the instructions in the rejection correspondence in order to enter the 6-digit number for each person. You need to get rid of the 5-digit number input when setting up to efile. You need to automatically send each person to the appropriate area of software to input the IRS provided numbers.

If you have a 6 digit PIN issued to you by the IRS you need to enter it in order to e-file.  Go to Federal>Other Tax Situations>Other Return Info>Identity Protection PIN and enter the six-digit PIN.
