This is a disaster. Logins that I *just* used for my financial institutions (to test and be sure I'm supplying the right info) don't work for turbotax, so I had to download my tax documents as PDFs and uploaded them to turbotax, only for turbotax to fail to collect all the information from the PDFs (I uploaded my consolidated 1099, and turbo tax recognized my DIV, INT and MISC info, but not my 1099-B info), and in the INT section my state is not one of the options in the selection list, but it won't let me enter the state by typing it in. I've been working on this for HOURS now and I still haven't gotten past the income section. At this rate, I'll be a lot better off if I just start over and do it myself. I've never had problems with TurboTax before, but this year, it just. doesn't. work.
Which bank/financial institution are you having trouble importing? @aliceodea
Turbotax doesn't load 1099-B data from a PDF file.
Use the summary aka mail-in-the-details option.
id all your SELLS are Box A or Box D without adjustments, you don't have to mail in anything.
Thanks, all. I figured it out. When I logged into my financial institution, they made me do a regular password change. Apparently, I tried to log in through tt too soon after the password change. After thinking that I might have to type in all of my 1099-B transactions by hand, I desperately tried again and this time, it worked.
