I have question about filing while married.

I was a self employed student in 2016. My spouse already filed their taxes and we were not aware that the best option would be to file together. Is there any way to still file together?

Once you've filed your tax return as Married Filing Separate, you have three years from the original filing deadline to file an amended tax return (Form 1040X) to change your filing status to Married Filing Joint.

I hope this helps!  Thank you for using TurboTax.
