I can't transmit my returns

Hello,

I am trying to transmit my returns but when I click the button it prompts me that I need to update my version of TurboTax. When I try to check for updates, it says that my version is up to date. Is anybody else having this issue?

You didn't say what TurboTax product you are using. Are you using TurboTax Online or the CD/Download TurboTax software? If it's the CD/Download software, are you using it in Windows or on a Mac, and did you install it from a download or from a CD?

I'm having the same problem (Turbotax Deluxe CD for PC).  It tells me that I need to update Turbotax before I can transmit my returns, but when I try to update it, it tells me that Turbotax is up to date.  I'm in a loop!

This exact problem drove me crazy.  Uninstall and reinstall and Voila!!

I had to do it twice but it was such a relief when it worked!

I am having the same issue. I hit the "Transmit Now" button and the pop up prompts me to check for updates. Then I get the screen that the software is up to date. I click "Transmit Now" and again the same message to update.

Can you give me at least a rough idea of how long it will be before a fix is released? I need to decide whether or not to go buy H&R Block or some other tax software, as I do not intend to file a manual return. Also, what would be the process for requesting refund of efiling fees and cost of Turbotax?

Unfortunately, we do not have a date for when the fix will be released.  In order to receive a refund, you will need to contact our Customer Care department.

Please click the link below and fill out the short form.  Please list Billing Issues instead of refund as the reason for contact.

When you are talking about a fix, are you anticipating days, weeks, months....?

Sorry about that. I thought I selected which verison I was using.  I am using the Deluxe verison via downloading the TurboTax software. I am using it on a Windows machine. I was able to transmit my taxes, by uninstalling the software then reinstalling it. I hope that helps others.

I had the same issue. I uninstalled and reinstalled TurboTax and it worked. I was able to Transmit on the first try.

I am using the CD version of Premier and nothing so far has solved the transmission problem. Here are the attempts that have failed:  3 software reinstallations; 2 software repair cycles; complete computer and modem reboot; turning off pop up blocker; deleting cookies; and switching from Explorer to Chrome.  I believe that there is a problem in the CD itself.

After my last message I decided to give it one last try before I filed paper returns.  When I opened the program, there was a notification of a new tax update required.  I updated it and this time the transmission was successful.  All previous updates (at least 20) were performed when there were no actual tax updates ready to be installed.  Perhaps this has some strange effect on the software.

I received an email telling me that a manual patch for this problem had been developed for my state. The same link you shared was below that message. I am an Arkansas filer. Only Massachusetts and New York workarounds are listed. I am very frustrated not only that this still isn't fixed, but that Intuit is sending me messages telling me that they have a fix for me when they do not. I will switch to a competitor's tax software if this isn't resolved by this weekend.

Here's the FIX via the TurboTax support person: I have the CD Deluxe version, so clearing cookies is not applicable. He first had me check my windows 10 for updates - which I had some pending, so I completed those. Then he had me check my McAfee antivirus for updates - which I also had one pending, so I completed that. He then sent a link to my email address for a MANUAL update of TurboTax. This takes a few minutes to install and prompts you through it. Don't run the TurboTax program till it is complete. Once it was done I started TurboTax and answered YES to install updates. I went to the final Transmit prompt and BOOM!, it worked perfectly! All done! I'm not sure which of the solutions actually did the trick or if all these steps were needed. Try your Windows and antivirus updates first and if that doesn't work call for the MANUAL update link to be emailed to you. Click 'Help Center' in the upper right corner to get their phone number. Get a case # for faster response. If they're backed up they are nice enough to call you back with the callback number you leave. Good luck!  Oh, by the way I tried uninstalling and re-installing the CD before all this but that didn't help. If you try a reinstall, back up your data to a different directory if you know how. I had to copy the 'cai' form (california) back over from the backup cuz it was expecting me to pay $39.99 for it. Also, if you reinstall the CD without erasing it first there is an option to 'repair' a previous install. I never tried that, but it could work. Don't worry, you can reinstall or uninstall the program without losing your data. It is stored in a different area (under Users). Also, another support person told me that this was an error message that occurred when the TurboTax servers were 'overloaded'. He had me turn off the Firewall to fix the problem, but that didn't do anything at all. I think he didn't know what he was talking about. Hmm. Other suggestions about closing the program or Rebooting didn't work either. Anyway, good luck. Hope this helps!

TurboTax sent me the following patch to resolve the loop problem:

https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/tax-topics/help/there-is-an-update-available-for-your-version-of-turbotax-loop-when-e-filing-windows/00/1116299

Since I had already resolved my problem, I never tried it, but it may be of help to others. Good luck.

I am having the same issues - no updates available.  Been done and ready to transmit for two days.

There could be a few little adjustments you can make to get your system working properly.

Please follow the instructions to troubleshoot your issue with transmitting your return.

I installed the MA state fix and that fixed it.  You should let the download users know and not have to dig for the answer.
