I can not erase and start over. How do I remove everything?

I was seeing what my refund would be while awaiting an additional W2 to arrive. I have tried to clear and start over, but it states that I have already filed. I did not file yet, pay, or sign anything. The IRS website says I haven’t submitted anything either. All returns say review and file. Also, the amount is way lower than TaxAct quoted me as well. About a little over 1k less. I entered the same info (uploaded W2s), same two dependents, and same everything else. I don’t fully understand why it is so different.

To clarify, when you log into your account, what is the first thing you see? If you accidentally filed, you should see either a pending or accepted status on your return.

Sometimes, if you review your return and start entering information in the file stage, it won't let you clear the return and start over. Besides, if you have the correct information listed, why would you wish to clear and start over again? This could be a tedious process.

As far as the difference between TurboTax and TaxAct check your entries in both to make sure they are identical. A slight difference could affect the manner in which the refund is calculated. Each program may interpret changes in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act differently.

For example, how tips are handled, if you were a tipped employee. OBBBA added a $25,000 deduction for tips and overtime. If one program factored this in and the other didn’t—maybe due to how the W-2 was imported—that could create a big difference.
