Please read this TurboTax FAQ for additional information about importing a Form 1099: How do I import my 1099?

Have tried dozen different ways and entries to import 1099DIV info for two investment funds (PNC & Prudential)  handled by Computershare using last name, SOC, Zip, Control #, as required. Nothing works. Easier to enter info manually. Same problem existed last year for 2018 taxes.

Not sure if this is a problem with the Turbo Tax Import page or at Computershare.

Sometimes these import features do not work and the only thing you can do as manually add these.

Would you be able to prepare your return with a pencil and IRS free download tax forms?

Yes. Did that way for years.

For Turbo Tax Premier Online 2020, one must enter your SSN with hyphens.
All of my Computershare 1099-DIVs contain my SSN under their "Recipient's ID No.", and all contain the hyphen format.

I image the same is true for Turbo Tax Premier PC.

I had same issue, then took a picture of the form with my phone & uploaded the jpg.  It auto-populated then.  I tried uploading a pdf of the form, but that didn’t work…only the jpeg.

I also have a problem importing a 1099DIV & 1099B from Computershare for 2022 using TurboTax (TT) Premier software.  TT keeps saying "Computershare    One or more sign-on and/or transaction inputs are missing or invalid (Ref 003).the inputs are wrong."   I've tried using Edge and Chrome browsers with TT with the same results.

Yes, there are other options to enter your 1099-DIV if the import doesn't work.

As you go through this flow, you can try to import the form, convert it from a file on your computer or take a photo of it. Watch for the screen How would you like to upload your 1099-DIV? for more options.

Here is where to enter dividend income:

  1. Open your return and select Federal on the left side menu.
  2. Select Wages & Income.
  3. Scroll down, or expand the list and find Investments and Savings (1099-B, 1099-INT, 1099-DIV, 1099-K, Crypto).
  4. Select + Add investments.
  5. Follow the next few screen to import your 1099-DIV.
  6. If you want to enter it manually, or if you can't import it, select Enter a different way, at the bottom.
  7. Select Dividends on 1099-DIV.
  8. Click Continue.
  9. Select  one of the three options, or Type it in myself, at the bottom.
  10. Enter only the field that are filled in on your 1099-DIV form.

I'm also unable to import my 1099 form information into TT Delux.
After entering my zip, Last Name, SSN & Control # A window pops up that states: "Computershare:  We are unable to locate any records based on the information provided. please confirm your sign on information (ref 001)

If you are unable to import the 1099, it would be best to follow the steps above by @JulieS to enter the 1099.  @capon56

My problem involved the reporting of sales of a few of my wife's Walmart stock on a joint return but I ended up just inputting the stock info into TurboTax manually and by sale groups.

I find that tax reporting for the sale of stock has become very confusing taxwise so I told my wife to just stop buying Walmart stock and buy precious metals (in coins) in the future.  Hopefully, the gains or losses will be easier to track but I guess we shall see.

For tax year 2023

1. SSN: No hyphens, spaces, nada, just your 9 numbers!

2. Control Number: No spaces (I downloaded all my PDF's and noticed every Control Number had several spaced). When importing, remove the spaces.

Yes, every year I 'some' issue importing Computershare, but have always been able to (eventually) import them WHICH DOES SAME ME TIME thank goodness.

It's best to enter it manually at this point. See the response by JulieS above for more help or follow the instructions here.
