How to edit a Form directly?

I'm looking in the Step by Step for the Question that will edit Schedule 1 #24z with no luck.  I've right clicked on that space and chose "Override" and stuck a number in that space, but it's not using that number and calculating it through (i.e. the amount I owe doesn't change) .  So my questions are

1.  How do I edit a entry in Forms and have it be used in the calculation?

2.  How do I find the Step by Step question that changes a particular Entry in a Form?  That is, is there a way I can make an override in a Form and then click on it and have TurboTax switch to the Step by Step question for that entry so I'll know in the future which question relates to which form entry?

if you are using online any edit of a tax form will be an override and thus you won't be able to e-file and Turbotax's accuracy guarantee is void.

depending on the version you using, you may be able to use support to aid in finding the source for the entry

otherwise, since an entry here can come from many different worksheets, you need to go through them one by one until you can identify the source.

I am not using an online version, I'm using desktop Premier and I'm not interested in e-filing.  I'm mainly wanting to edit forms directly to do "what if" scenarios to mess around with numbers and see how things are affected.  I just spoke to TurboTax customer service on the phone and they confirmed my issue but don't have a good solution.   Here's my 2 questions:

1.  Manually overriding entries in Schedule 1 Line 24 a to z does nothing because Line 25, which should sum up Lines 24 a to z, remains 0.   TurboTax Customer Service acknowledges that it does this and has no solution.

2.  Since manually overriding does not work, I would like to find the entry point in the Step by Step interview that puts a value into this Entry because I'm confident that it should "take" this way.  Customer Service doesn't  offer a good way to do this either.  We tried going into Step by Step mode and using the search bar to find a "jump".  This worked for certain entries such as "Jury Duty Pay" but not for others, in particular  Schedule 1 Line 24z Other Adjustments.   I'm not able to find the Step by Step question that ties to 24z.

If anyone has suggestions I'll appreciate it.

There are a number of items that could appear on Schedule 1, Line 24z.  Hold your cursor over the line and click to see the magnifying glass.

That will drill down to the originating entry.

Aside form redoing an entire tax 1040, the best solution is to not purchase Turbotax and use a person you pay for, making this useless to purchase
