How long should I keep my TurboTax program disk?

I read that Turbo Tax only supports the last four(4) years of programs. I would have thought that Turbo Tax would have supported the previous seven(7) years. Does this mean that I can destroy program disk  years that are older than four(4) years because they are no longer usable?

Pretty much.  They only support the last 3 years.  Probably because you can only amend the last 3 years., at least to get a refund.    If you install an old year you won't be able to update it or download any state programs you might need.  You don't have to destroy the CDs.  They don't have any of your personal info on them.

And....most newer computers do not have disk drives....so the disk will not do you much good anyhow.   You would only need to be able to download the program---so keep a record of the license codes.   They started using license codes for 2019 and beyond.

Thanks for the reply. My concern is that an audit can go back seven (7) years. As  for computers now days not having CD/DVD drives, there's always external drives. I did this for a laptop that I recently purchased. As for the desktop computers, the last one that I purchased "off the shelf" was probably about Windows 3.1 era because since then I've built my own.  Again, thanks for your input. 😉
