I've started my 2020 taxes on my old computer. I would like to finish on a new computer. I downloaded Turbo Tax Premier 2020 on to the new computer and saved my 2019 and 2020 files onto a thumb drive. However, when I try to transfer the data to my new computer, it only allows me to transfer previous years.
Is there a way to transfer the data from the current (2020 year)? It says it supports TurboTax files .tax2019 or PDF. When I try the 2020 PDF it says it's unsuccessful. When I try 2020 (different file extension - .tax2020), it doesn't work.
Is there another way? I don't want to start over - It's almost complete except filing.
When you start the 2020 TurboTax program click on the File menu at the top left of the program screen. Click on Open Tax Return. Click on
Find a Tax File
and browse to the location you have the 2020 tax data file to open the file. That worked! Thank you. Could have sworn I tried it, but I guess not! Super easy.
When I try to access the copied data on the new computer, I get a message "How do you want to open this file?" (Windows 10) Apparently it doesn't recognize TAX2021 files. I can't get to the program. I tried downloading the Turbo Tax program again (to new computer) but that was not allowed. What to do??

Start the 2021 TurboTax program. Click on the File menu at the top left of the desktop program screen. Click on Open Tax Return. Browse to the location where you stored the 2021 tax data file.
