Where are you stuck and which version of TurboTax are you using?

The program should automatically return you to where you left off the last time you used it (provided you saved the file in the desktop version).

Sometimes works, but never works after switching from "Forms" to "Step by Step". This is a missing feature. TurboTax should support excursions into forms and continue with Step-by-Step at the same step. Now, all context is lost and some questions must be redundantly repeated and redundantly answered. I would prefer to navigate based on the stack of papers in front of me instead of some predetermined sequence of steps. Why does Step-by-Step in Home Office ask about "excess" mortgage interest before the determining if itemized deductions will reduce tax liability? Why would TurboTax even ask the question since the answer should be eventually known from other entries in TurboTax? Unfortunately, some numbers or options must be entered in step-by-step mode to avoid hassles fining exactly where the entry must be entered. In many cases, filling out the form is faster if the needed numbers are assembled in one place. I have never found a way to avoid answering some questions multiple times because Step-by-Step context was ignored or lost.

Again ... the program is written to be used in a forward motion in the order things show up on a form 1040 ... ALL income tax programs (even professional ones)  do this.   SO ... you should order your "stack" of paperwork in the same way.  The tax programs will not ever change this method.
