Detailed instructions for using turbotax to request an extension:
On the menu bar on the left that shows.

My Info
Federal
State
Review
File
Select Tax Tools
On the drop-down select Tools
There will be 4 green boxes
Select Tax Topics
Type Extension
You can then start the extension process

Also, you may have to do your state taxes:

Remember, an extension gives you more time to prepare your taxes, but it doesn't extend the time to pay your taxes. If you have an indication that you will owe taxes you should make the payment to avoid additional interest and penalties.

Just go to "Forms" view and open Form 4868.  Fill it out and send it in.

This will extend your deadline for filing your tax return, but you still have to pay on time or you might get interest and/or penalty charges.  So try to pay a little more than you think you need to today.  You will get back any excess when you file the return.
