How do I edit my unfiled 2019 1040 Form?

I printed my 2019 tax form, but discovered an error.  I can't find an option to make a change/edit on the form.  My only option is to amend the return, but nothing to amend because the original was never mailed/filed with the IRS.

Do I need to open a new Turbotax account and start over?

Thanks

When you log back into your TurboTax, click the My TurboTax at the top.  This should take you to the Tax Timeline.  Scroll down until you see the "Add a state" link.  Click that link and you'll be back in the interview section of TurboTax where you can make the changes.

I need to edit the property tax on my federal return. It mistakenly impacts my state return.

I logged back in and I am at the Getting Started page. I don't see the My Turbo Tax at the top of the page

@mrsofran

You posted your question to a thread that is asking about making changes to a 2019 return.   Are you trying to change a 2019 return that has not ever been filed?   Or are you asking about your 2020 return?

Is it on another page?

@mrsofran Have you already e-filed the 2020 return you are asking about?  If you have not e-filed it yet then you can go back to the Deductions and Credits section to Your Home>Property Taxes and change the amount you entered.   If you already e-filed your 2020 return then you have to wait for it to be processed and then amend it to make corrections.

To Edit an error on a Form, Log into your Turbo Tax program and open up your Saved Tax File. Then Select Forms from the top right and search for your Form- then you can Edit entries on the Form itself. After you have made the Correction, be sure to Save your work again. You may also want to re-print your saved pdf to look over before you e-file.

Are you using the desktop or the online version?

If you have not filed the return,  you can click on Add state. It will not actually add a state, but it will allow you back into the return to make changes. @cheri929

@cheri929 You say that you are using the CD/download---right?  You do not have to click on anything that says add a state to get back in to your return.  That is a trick only used with online software.  If you have the CD/download you only need to open your return up.  Open up the TurboTax program on your own hard drive, then go to File, and click on Open Tax Return to get back into the return you are still working on.
