Just enter your personal information into TurboTax. The program automatically assumes that you will be claiming your own personal exemption unless you indicate that someone else can claim you as a dependent.

When you claim yourself on a tax return you are claiming yourself as a personal exemption and not as a dependent. Please view the TurboTax FAQ below for more information about personal exemptions.

@jbanksri

Please clarify:  What mistake have you made?  Please provide details.

Based on the question at the top of the thread, you may be wondering if you can claim an exemption for yourself on your return.

In the past, a taxpayer, and his or her spouse if filing jointly, could claim personal exemptions for themselves, but that's no longer the case.

Please see the TurboTax Help article Can I claim myself or my spouse as a dependent? for additional details.
