How do I change my payment method to pay my return?

Please see the instructions below to change your payment method for your return:

1. With your return open, select File from the side menu and proceed to the Just a few steps left screen.
2. On this screen, select Start here or Revisit for the first step.
3. Choose Select Payment Method on the next screen, and then choose your payment method there.

I was sent an email saying that I can change my return payment method at any time by signing in. THAT WAS A BIG FAT LIE. Now I'm panicking because someone that ISN'T ME is gonna get MY money.

Once your e-filed return has been accepted or you already mailed it, it's too late to change your refund method. The option stated above only works if you haven't sent in your taxes yet.

You can change it (for 2018 taxes in 2019) by going to "File" and as you go through the steps you'll see three steps you can re-visit, 1) your receipt, 2)  tax payment info and 3) "getting ready to save and file". Select to re-vist (on right hand side of screen) to change payment option. I am refiling day after.
