What happens if you right click and run as administrator? Can you try that and let me know?

I have tried that. Get the same message. I tried unstalling and reinstalling. No help. Wondering if installing it on my laptop may work but probably will not have access to last years data. I am not good with trying to fix computer problems.

Thanks for trying. Tried all that. Still can not get in. Why could I get in when first installed but not now?

Maybe I should get a refund and look for something else. I have been using turbo for many years. This is the first year I had to get the download instead of the disc.

Error 70001 occurs when you have two instances of TurboTax running.

In order to correct this error, you may need to manually uninstall and reinstall TurboTax

If doing that does not assist, please follow the steps in this link to troubleshoot the issue.  Please comment back if these do not resolve the issue.

There is actually an option to purchase and have a CD sent to you if you prefer.

I tried everything on this list including the super patch update and had no success.  This situation is very frustrating and I'm seriously considering moving to another software after 2 decades.

I agree. I have wasted so much time trying to deal with this error code. It is ridiculous. Switch to another tax software.

I have tried everything on this page as well. Absolutely ridiculous waste of time. I am switching to another tax software.

I got it figured out.  I removed all version of TT and verified there were no windows updates available.  In a final ditch effort to clean up potential residual files from previous installs I installed the program CCleaner and deleted a lot of temporary files not needed.  While this may have made my PC run better this is not what fixed the 70001 error.  In the CCleaner program there is a scan that looks for out of date programs and it found that the program Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable was out of date.  So I went to Microsoft website and downloaded the 64 bit version update and installed it.  The install asked for a restart and once booted up TT acted as normal trying to update itself.  Below is the website to find the update.  Scroll to the first box you see and install either the x86 (32 bit) or x64 (64 bit) versions.  The version I got was version 14.42.34433.0

THIS DID NOT APPEAR IN NORMAL MICROSOFT UPDATES FOR ME.  I HAD TO DOWNLOAD THE INSTALL FILE AND RUN IT.

Good luck out there,  we'll need it.

This is the only thing that fixed my issue after 7 hours of tech support with Turbo tax and problem not resolved.

Removed all old 2024 software and installed Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributal.  Then reinstalled Turbotax.  No need to turn off anti viral or Windows defender.

This was awesome. After burning 4 hours running through all the recommendations listed on this site (the Windows 11 update alone took 2 hours), this C++ update file fixed it for me. Just wanted to upvote and comment so others could get there more quickly. Good luck.

This worked, Redistributable C++.

Now I hope this doesn't give anyone a means to enter our computer systems, LOL
