When you were asked to enter mailing addresses like in Personal Info/My Info, for W-2s and 1099-Rs, and other forms, did you find a pull down menu and choose Foreign Address first, before entering anything? The box you want probably says "US Address" when you first enter the screen.

Selecting Foreign Address changes the boxes you can enter, to better fit non-US addresses.

NOTE: if you get this message in the Review, be sure to not try to update it in the Review, but go back to the original screen (W-2, Personal Info, whatever), and make the entry there.

I did select the Foreign address in the Personal Info. I tried again directly going to My Info tab and updating the address. I am still getting the error.

You can e file with a foreign address.  However, IRS regulations require a U.S. bank account to receive your tax refund, and you'll need a U.S. bank account (or credit/debit card with a U.S. billing address) if paying additional federal taxes owed.  Please check those provided information in the program. See link here: US address is required

Just note that if you live in overseas and earn foreign income, you might be able to exclude your income.  For more information, please see Foreign income and exclusion and Extension
