I'm not filing yet - just going through early to see what kind of refund I could be looking at. I want to claim the family and sick leave credits for self-employed individuals (Form 7202). When I go to 'review' at the end, it says that form cannot be e-filed. I understand it's still in draft form and should be ready by 1/28 according to the Forms Availability list, but that says it's for "print". What if you want to e-file? Will it also be ready by 1/28, or do I HAVE to do a paper return in order to claim those credits?
Thanks!
E-filing of the Form 7202 is not supported.
If the Form 7202 will be included with your federal tax return, Form 1040, you will have to print, sign, date and mail the 2020 Federal Tax Return to the IRS.
Not the answer I was hoping for, but will do what I need to in order to claim it. Thank you DoninGA!
The answer you’ve all been looking for 🙂
1) Click “Tax Tools” on the left menu
2) click “tools” then
a box should pop up
3) Click Delete a form
4) scroll down and look for the 7202-T form
5) click delete
6) go back to review and WALA, good to go 😉
Thank you for this ****accurate answer. That form is standing between my e-file status. I will try your way now.
Will the form become available at a later date for efile? I want to efile when it comes time but I need this form to remain on my tax return.

It will not be. Form 7202 is not e-fileable.
Can I efile and the submit an amendment by mail to claim 7202?
Yes, definitely. You can e file without this form and amend later when the form is available. Please note that IRS will not process and accept any returns until February 12, 2021.
Beginning with the 2019 tax year, you can e-file amended tax returns. If you used TurboTax to prepare Form 1040-X, follow the software's instructions to e-file the amendment.

When electronically signing your tax return to be e-filed, you are making this declaration (or one very similar to it):
Under penalties of perjury, I declare that I have examined a copy of the income tax return (original or amended) I am now authorizing, and to the best of my knowledge and belief, it is true, correct, and complete.
i do not need this form , i comes up but i have nothing to report . How can i delete it from TT home and business version . There is no delete under "tools " on left hand side .
is that the same for home and business version ? i cannot delete the form , we did not have anything to report on this form yet it is there . very frustrating .
Use the delete form button in the forms mode on a Windows or the top menu bar Forms -> delete in a Mac.
Thank you so much! i dont even know how that got on my return! It didnt even apply to me. I went over and over and revisited everything and couldnt find it. But your answer was perfect. I was able to delete it and continue to Efile! Thank you so much!
just wanted to say THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i was very upset with this form and you helped me to demolish it!
are we going to be able to efile this by turbo tax? or are we going to be forced to send it by mail?
other software are efiling this form, what can we do, it is 2/21/2021 already.
Form 7202 is not supported for e-filing, according to our forms availability sheet.
To print and mail your return, please follow these instructions if you're using TurboTax Online and review this article if you're using TurboTax Desktop.
If you wish to e-file without the credit you will need to delete the form.
How do I view and delete forms in TurboTax Online?
How do I delete a tax form in the TurboTax CD/Download software?
If you wish to e-file and claim this credit, your best option will be to first e-file without the credit, and then prepare an amended return claiming the credit.
practically you're telling me that the other software are better than turbo. it sucks because I have been a customer for 15 years and the reason to keep on coming back it is because I have never had any problems with turbo. it's easy just to say to erase the form to efile but I lose over 750 dollars and if I decide to send it by mail it takes forever to get my return back. thanks for nothing turbo tax.
No software, including professional, can e-file the 7202 because the IRS has not made it e-fileable.
Some software will attach it as a separate PDF attachment, but TurboTax has never supported attachments. They might be doing that shortly.
Taxpayers can claim the credits on their 2020 Form 7202, for leave taken between April 1 and Dec. 31, 2020, and on their 2021 Form 7202 for leave taken between Jan. 1 and March 31, 2021. To be an eligible self-employed person, both of the following must be true:
Form 7202 is not available for e-filing, according to our forms availability sheet.
To print and mail your return, please follow these instructions if you're using TurboTax Online and review this article if you're using TurboTax Desktop.
You may file your 2020 income tax return later and efile, or you can print and paper file it and mail it to the IRS.
Hi
Actually the IRS suggests attaching the form to the e-file via Pdf. It seems that if I am going to pay $120+ for tax service, this option should be made available by turbotax.
TurboTax has worked hard with the IRS to be able to e-file this form. Since this will require programming adjustments for both the IRS and TurboTax, it will be a few weeks before these changes are made.
If you wish to file this form, you have the following options:
1. Mail in your return now and not wait until the form is available to e-file.
2. E-file your return without the form, and then file an amended return with the form attached to it (amended returns now also can be e-filed for greater convenience).
3. Wait until the form is available in TurboTax and e-file your entire return at once.
Feel free to reach out if you have any questions on how to do this.
