Form 5329 RMD

The program is pulling in and RMD requirement for all account which is seven greater than my calculated RMD so it is showing that I have underpaid RMD which I haven't.   It's actually than all the normal distributions i made all year.  (BTW I'm 74)

Is this a bug?

It depends on how you reported these. Here is how to correct this across all of your accounts.

  1. Go to the 1099-R entry section.
  2. For each 1099-R, when it asks "How much of this distribution was RMD?", select "The entire distribution was an RMD"
  3. On the next screen, it will ask for the "Required Minimum Distribution" for that account. Enter the same amount that is in Box 1 of that 1099-R.

By reporting the RMD matched the distribution for every 1099R, there will be no "shortfall" calculated in your return.
