Can form 5329 be filed electronically in Turbo Tax when I need to add RC(1000) on dotted line of line 54.

TurboTax will automatically add the RC(1000) entry if you have entered a Form 1099-R that indicates that you are subject to RMDs and you are able to answer the relevant questions after clicking the Continue button on the page that lists the Forms 1099-R that you have entered.  If you have not made any Form 1099-R entries that would trigger TurboTax to present these questions, simplest will be to print your tax return an mail it after manually making the necessary entries in Part IX of Form 5329.

It depends. I don't think it would invalidate electronic filing but I don't believe you can add this to the dotted line in line 54 in Turbo Tax. I tried but it is impossible.

@gemcclain

what entries did you use to put Form 5329 for a missed RMD.?

Last I heard, that doesn't work.

This is fine if you owe but filing a paper return for a refund these days is not pleasant.

IRS is backlogged with millions of paper returns.
