If you imported a W-2, some pieces of information may be missing or were inaccurately entered during the data import process. To ensure your 2019 TurboTax return is accurate, please delete ALL your W-2s and then re-import them into your return before submitting your return to the IRS.

Do not e-file your return before Thursday, January 30, 11:59pm PST.

Follow these steps to delete and re-import your W-2s.

If the instructions tell me to delete all the W2 and import again, that means the import bug has been fixed. So why do we have to wait until Jan 31 to file?

I had the same issue. Called TT and they don’t seem to know either. The specialist said it should be fine to e-file again but I didn’t. Why do we have to wait? Also, why did the first prompt tell my to reimport before the 30th and the second prompt say I can’t file until after the 30th?

You can e-file again after January 30th.  Follow the steps to delete, re-import your W-2s, and re-file your return, listed in the following TurboTax FAQ:  How can I fix my W-2 import issue and refile my return?

I got this issue but did not import anything. It says not to e-file before the date - is that the problem?

If you are trying to file a State form, you may get the message that you have to wait. Some State forms are not available just yet. You can use the link provided below to access the State Forms availability:

I had a similar issue importing personal information into this year's return from the 2018 return.  Turbo Tax accessed the file but put the middle initial of the name in the last name box and the last name box disappeared.  I didn't catch it - ended up filing the return only to have it rejected.  I went back and found the error and resubmitted.  Never had that happen before.

TurboTax simply downloads the information provided by the company that it is requested from. Sometimes the information we receive is not accurate, so if doesn't get processed properly. So. you should review the information downloaded to make sure it is accurate.

When importing from Wells Fargo Advisors if import won't work, try First Clearing in drop down menu.

First Clearing does the Back Office work for Wells Fargo Advisors.

It didn't work.  I don't even get the "continue" box to highlight.  I have successfully imported from another broker but not WFA.  Anyone else have that issue?

You can enter an overall total for long and/or short term sales of stocks bonds and other investment type transactions.  Long term would be listed as one line item and short term would be listed as another line item.

See our FAQ on how you can enter a large number of transactions into Turbo Tax.
