I received the NJ unemployment while traveling (No Residence) and as a resident of South Carolina. I moved to South Carolina on 08/01/21 and stopped receiving unemployment on 09/08/21. Does this effect how I would submit my taxes for 1099-G on my federal Tax Return? Since I lived in South Carolina for a short time while having unemployment.

    Your state of residence would not affect the federal tax treatment of New Jersey Unemployment income.

    For state tax purposes, you generally retain your state tax residence until you establish a new one (so you would use your former state tax residence).

    @MaryK4

    So in this case I would submit my unemployment compensation on my federal only and I would file a South Carolina Income State tex return since I had a W-2 in South Carolina and do nothing for New Jersey?

    That is correct, you will have to report it all on the federal- New Jersey does not tax Unemployment Income so if you were a New Jersey resident before you started travelling, and have no other NJ income, you do not have to file for New Jersey.  Then for South Carolina enter the portion for the month you lived there.  @subaonyx007
