Failing to import 2018 data from prior year return

When I open turbo tax it offers to import data from my prior year's form. The prompts successfully locate the prior years data on my hard drive and the import appears to work. I get a message saying the information was uploaded and I should review it. Unfortunately all the forms remain blank. I have tried deleting my incomplete 2019 return and restarting, but the same thing happens.

Please click here to see instructions for transferring your last years return to 2019 TurboTax software.

I am having a similar issue.   Shows that my 2018 return has been imported, but not all the info shows up.  For instance my tax refund carryover as well as amortization schedules for Schedule C.

You can edit any imported information by following the instructions below:

  1. Open or continue your return.
  2. From the left menu, select Federal and then select Income & Expenses.
  3. Proceed to the Your Income and expenses screen.
  4. Select the Edit button next to the item you would like to update or delete.

In the TurboTax CD/Download software, you can delete imported items as follows:

  1. Open your return.
  2. From the TurboTax File menu, select Remove Imported Data.
  3. Select the item(s) you want to remove and follow the instructions.

Caution!

Changing information you imported can be problematic. For example, if you're audited you'd have to explain why the numbers on your return differ from the original data source. If you must update or delete items, be sure to keep detailed notes with your tax records.

For Quicken, QuickBooks, and .txf imports, it's best that you update your data in those programs (rather than in TurboTax) before importing so that your books match your tax return.

If you've already imported your Quicken, QuickBooks, or .txf file, you can re-import the updated information by selecting the Replace option when prompted.
