First, is there a forum or help site for software issues? I can't seem to find any way to report bugs. I tried asking in the help within TurboTax Desktop and the chatbot's answer had nothing whatsoever to do with my question. I can't find a forum here or any other place on their website. Even the online help link in the software is bad.
Anyway, I am getting a cryptic error importing a W-2 from Dayforce: Unsuccessful SONRQ BAD USERID/USERPASS. It appears Intuit's login is not working. But that's not the only bug.
There is no place to report sotware bugs. You can enter the W-2 manually if it will not import.
Importing of W-2's usually is not available from the TurboTax partners until mid-February.
Have you received the W-2 from your employer so that you enter enter the employer EIN and the gross amount of wages in box 1 on the import screen? Also may need the Control Number in box d.
See this TurboTax support FAQ for importing a W-2 - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/import-export-data-files/import-enter-w-2/L55HzdeDr_US_en_US?uid=m6cwafge
Thanks, yes I had my W-2 and entered all the necessary information, the error was due to something else. But it worked today, they fixed whatever the problem was.
W-2 Import is failing. Is it because the input field for "Box '1' amount" is expecting a password? When filling out the input field MacOS is indicating that it is a password field even though it is not. The import fails and does not provide any information about the cause of the failure.
How can I import my W-2 into TurboTax Premier?
It is just as easy and maybe even faster to manually enter the W2. And the W2 might import wrong.
To enter a W2
Federal on left or top (Personal in Home & Business)
Click on Wages and Income tab
Then Wages and Salaries
Wages and Salaries – Start (you might have to click on Show More on right)
To enter a W2 manually do NOT enter the EIN
Just hit Continue
Then in pick the Left box - Type it in myself - Continue
This is crazy - if importing of W-2's is not available till mid February - then the app should tell you that! I click Import My w-2 and I get Establishing a connection - then you hear a sound like it's trying to pop up a message box, but does nothing and it just leaves you on the screen.
If you are having issues importing the W-2, enter it manually, instead (see instructions below). @Kban35
About the control number Box D - If you get errors when attempting to e-file with an empty box D, just enter any number in this format: 5 digits, space, 5 digits (for example, 12345 67890). The IRS doesn't care what's in box D.
I have a blank page when click on the "Jump directly to the W-2 section". I didn't see anything after I click on it. Does this work on Windows 11? Thanks
I followed the instruction of the "Importing your W-2" but nothing show up on the screen. Just a blank page. I am running on Windows 11 and start the program in "administration mode". What should I need to do to import the W-2 form. I have used the Turbox since 2000 and never have this problem. Please help
Thanks
In TurboTax Online, consider following these steps to import or manually enter an IRS form W-2.
See also this TurboTax Help.
I am using the TurboTax Desktop version, not the online version. please let me know why I have blank page when I clicked on the link to W-2 import. Thanks

If you using TurboTax for Windows, try this procedure to correct the problem -
Save your tax return, close the TurboTax program
Right click on the TurboTax icon
Click on Properties
Click on the Compatibility tab
Check the box Run this program as an administrator
Click on Apply and OK
Start the TurboTax program again and see if the problem persists.
same thing, still happening in mid March. Just a beep quickly and no error dialog.
When importing, make sure TurboTax and Windows or your Mac operating system are both updated, and temporarily disable all anti-virus software (including modem). Some users reported that disabling security software solved the issue. You might also try restarting your device, and using a different browser (Chrome generally works well).
There are a few ways you can add your W-2 to your tax return in TurboTax:
To import your W-2:
See this help article for more information.
To enter your W-2 in TurboTax Online:
First, choose Wages & Income from the menu, then select Wages and Salaries (W-2). Then:
See this tax tips article for more information regarding Form W-2.
its almost April and im getting the same error.
first thing im doing which is actual taxes. they should be embarrassed.
Not all employers are available or have been associated with TurboTax for importing purposes. See previous response from @MonikaK1 and enter your W-2 manually.
When I click on "Add W2" the screen goes blank. I do not have option to import or manually enter the data. This did not happen when I did my Son's taxes. The recent update to TurboTax causes this. Can this be fixed?
What TurboTax program are you using and is it Online or Desktop?
Are you sure you are not still in your son's return?
Thanks, but everything goes blank as soon as I click on W2 box. I cannot do anything.
Have you tried Forms Mode? Make sure your software is fully updated - Do a manual update if necessary. And since the desktop software does interact with the internet, clear your cache and cookies too. Believe it or not, that is often the fix.
I just manually entered a W-2 into TurboTax Premier with no problems and I updated the software a few hours ago. If you continue to have issues - Contact Support
I clicked on Add another W-2, skipped the import, selected I'll type it in myself and got the following screen - no errors.
