Energy credit for windows, QMID

I installed energy efficient windows in 2025.  Per Form 5695, I have to enter Qualified Manufacturer Identification Numbers starting with their GMID number.  My provider reports that their QMID number is V9W0 and that it does not qualify for the energy credit.  Is their reporting accurate?   If not, I cannot start their ID numbers with V9W0 and still fit in their 17-digit serial number on Form 5695.  What should I enter on Form 5695?

If your provider said that your windows "do not qualify" for the Home Energy Credit, they are probably referring to the specific model of window you purchased.  V9W0 (with a zero at the end) is the official 4-character Qualified Manufacturer ID (QMID) for Pella Corporation.

For 2025, the IRS requires that windows must meet the Energy Star "Most Efficient" criteria to qualify for the credit.

If your windows are standard Energy Star but not "Most Efficient," they do not qualify for the credit.

You can check/cross-reference your windows on the Energy Star "Most Efficient" list.  If it is not on that list, you cannot claim the credit, and you should not enter the information on Form 5695.
