E file rejected due to error with Form 4562

My e-file for my return was rejected, and it seems that is due to a software defect relating to Form 4562.

The sytem error says: The reject s due to a program defect and is expected to be fixed in the next release.

Anyone has any idea when this software update will be completed?

TurboTax doesn't have the software for Form 4562 ready it.  I've been waiting for it for weeks.  I was told it would be available "by February".  I signed up to receive an email when it's ready.

I uploaded an update released by Turbo Tax on 2/9/26, and re- transmitted by return a second time through the e-file, and the returne was rejected once again. And once again software indicates is due to a program defect relating to Form 4562. Once again the software indicates that the program defect is expected to be fixed by the next release, like it said last time.

Anyone has any idea what's going on with this problem and by when Turbo Tax is expected to fix it?

This reject is due to a program defect and is expected to be fixed in the next release. You may wait for after this Friday February 13th, 2026,  the next release before re-transmitting this return.

Alternatively, if you wish to proceed, please follow the steps below as a temporary solution:

  1. Navigate to Forms mode
  2. Go to Form 4562 for each related Form 8825 in your return
  3. On Form 4562 Line 19h, enter a date on column b, and enter 0 for column c and column d
  4. Make the appropriate change(s), save and re-transmit

An update came out that appears to have corrected the issue in Form 4562.  However, now the Error Check is bypassed giving little confidence that it is a clean return.

Which turbo tax version do you have that has updated? I have desktop premier and it still hasn't update the form 4562

Having the same issue and had a program update today but it didn't seem to resolve the issue.

On the workaround Step 3, Line 19h column d is not editable (it's Recovery Period).  Is it columns (c) and (g) where zeros should be entered instead?

I'm working on Business, not to be confused with Home and Business.

Had you already e-filed?  I'm using Business too but my e-file status still suggests to wait for a future release to address the program defect

I've e-filed 2 so far.  I'm in California and I know they have been rolling out state by state.

I'm using the TurboTax Business. I received an update, but I have not e-file yet.

I'm using TurboTax Business Desktop. I received an update today 2/20/26.

I re-efile my tax today and it worked. I'm in Florida, so at least this area is working now.

I have been using TurboTax Business and TurboTax Deluxe since 2011 to do my taxes. And it's easy to do them in the software, and I have always filed my taxes on time. Will use it again for 2026, God willing.

I hope that this update works for every one else as well.

Thank you very much TurboTax for fixing the issue!
