E-file Federal After e-filing State

TurboTax took me through the steps and let me e-file an amended state return. Now it will not let me e-file the Federal Amended tax return. How can I file my amended federal tax return by e-file?

An amended return cannot be e-filed; it must be printed signed and mailed.

A 1040X cannot be e-filed.  It must be printed and mailed.  It will take about 2-4 months for the IRS to process an amended return.

Wait about 3 weeks and you can check the status of your amended return:
