E-file error

Hi all

I'm trying to e-file a return and I keep getting an error that says "This return has certain forms that can't be e-filed, usually because of tax regulations" but it doesn't tell me which form is the issue and there are only standard forms in the return.  Has anyone come across this or happen to know where to look for the problem?

Click Review to see if you are missing some forms needed in order to e-file.

Many federal and state forms are not yet available.  Check here for form availability. The dates are subject to change.

Tax form availability tool,

No hurry to e-file since the IRS will not begin to accept/reject 2023 e-files until January 29.   And….a state return cannot be accepted until after the IRS accepts your federal return.

Thanks for the info, unfortunately that wasn't it.  It's still getting rejected from e-file and TurboTax does not have any explanation for it.  I even tried deleting different sections to see which one was causing the issue but even with barely anything in it I was still getting the error.

Is there certain forms that are not able to be e-filed?  Possibly from the "personal information" section.  My GF does have an identify pin but she was able to file electronically with it last year (we did get the new one this year).

If anyone has any ideas, please share them.
Thanks

@ Kevin570

What product version are you using (online/desktop), and does your return have a Schedule C?   Many people are reporting at this point in time  they have problems when they try to efile with a Schedule C or possibly due to a problem with some form that flows to Schedule C.

I'm using the desktop deluxe version and she does have a schedule-C.  The std. deduction was bigger than itemized expenses so I took them out but I'm not sure if the schedule will be removed.  I was thinking of just starting over from her 2022 file again and leaving expenses out.

Business expenses on Schedule C are totally separate from the Standard Deduction or Itemized Deductions.  Itemized Deductions are on Schedule A.  If you file without your expenses on Schedule C you will have to amend in the future to add them.  You can get in trouble for leaving off expenses and you will pay a lot more tax.

A lot of people are having trouble efiling with a Schedule C right now.  I personally do not know the reason, but several folks have phoned Customer Support, and TurboTax is aware of the problem. See if anything changes after their routine weekly software update which normally occurs overnight on early Thursday mornings.  I don't know if something is wrong with the Sched C itself, or if it's related to some underlying form that flows to the Schedule C.    TurboTax normally puts out new desktop updates overnight on early Thursday mornings.  The program usually has some bugs each year in early filing season.
