My question is regarding the capability of Desktop Version to handle crypto transactions. I know that the Online Premier version handle it.

It looks like that the Cryptocurrency section is still not available in Turbotax Premier (2019) desktop version

Looking for this as well. Was able to input it into the 2018 version but there's no section for it yet for Tax Year 2019 Deluxe...

I do not see a section by that name in Desktop Deluxe.  However, those entries can be reported on Desktop Deluxe.  Follow these steps.

  • Click Federal taxes.
  • Click on Wages & Income.
  • Click on I’ll choose what I work on.
  • Under Your Income Summary, see Investment Income.
  • Click on Stocks, Mutual Funds, Bonds, Other
  • Did you sell any investments?, Click Yes.
  • Did you get a 1099B?, answer No.
  • Choose the type of investment, click on Everything else.
  • Enter description, proceeds, dates, cost, etc.

See here and here.

Soooo, warning to active crypto-traders: TurboTax 2019 Premier download version is a HUGE waste of time and money!

(Why did TurboTax do this???)

Agreed.  I was tricked into upgrading to Premier for the purpose of reporting cryptocurrency, but it's only in the app, not the downloaded desktop version.
