Does Turbotax Basic desktop version import stock transaction automatically?

I know the Turbotax Deluxe desktop version can import stock transaction automatically from financial institutions and generate schedule D -- correct me if it's not the case this year. It looks like the only difference between Turbotax Deluxe and Basic is the itemized deductibles. So I wanted to confirm if the Turbotax Basic desktop version can still import stock transaction automatically from financial institutions and generate schedule D?

You are probably trying to import that information too soon.   It is usually late January to mid-February before that data has been formatted for import into tax software by the brokers and financial institutions even if you can view it online.   If you want to import it, you will likely need to wait a few weeks.

I'm not doing it right now. I haven't even purchased the software yet because I wanted to confirm if the Basic desktop version has the same importing stock transaction function as Deluxe version.

if you do import review the actual 1099-B and your return. sometimes things go wrong in the import. Turbotax only guarantees accuracy with its calculations not imported data or taxpayer entries.

All of the desktop software versions have all of the forms and schedules.  The big difference with Basic desktop is that it does not include state software.   If you need to prepare a state return, purchase Deluxe that includes a state program.
