Does anyone know if TT will let you e-file your return if it has an error message about not having done a K-3? And will the government accept it without the K-3?

Like many people box 16 is checked on my K-1 indicating a K-3 is attached but in fact it isn't available until after the the filing deadline. TT gives you a error message during the federal check that the box is checked but you haven't done the K-3.
My question is whether TT will let you e-file your return with this error message? And if they do let you e-file with the error message will  the government accept it?
The alternative is to uncheck box 16 and I'd rather not do that.

Yes, you can e-file your return without the K-2 and/or K-3.  Per the IRS:

  • Yes, these schedules are currently available to be electronically submitted.  However, Modernized e-File (MeF)/Extensible Markup Language (XML) electronic filing capability for the schedules K-2 and K-3 for tax year 2021 will not be available as of the beginning of the 2022 filing season (January 2022).  Schedules K-2 and K-3 will be available for MeF/XML filing in the following time frames.  If you electronically file your return before the time frames, submit the schedules as separate PDF files attached to the return.   Taxpayers will also be able to file their Schedules K-2 and K-3 via PDF attachments for the entire 2022 filing season.
