Do I need specific permissions on my computer for install to work?

I installed TurboTax Deluxe 2024 Saturday, but it will not open.  It stalled the first time, saying it was "taking more than a moment".  I closed out of it in task manager and when I tried to open again it said it could not start because it was already in use by another user.  I have since uninstalled it and rebooted.  Before I try to install again, is there something I need do to from an administrative permissions settings to make sure it will work this time?  I'm running Windows 11 home edition.  Hopefully something works, or I guess I'll have to bail on Turbo Tax after many years and try another software.  Thanks

Yes, you need Administrator Rights to install TurboTax Desktop.

  • Right-click the TurboTax icon or setup icon and select Properties. In the Compatibility tab, select the Run this program as administrator box and select OK.

Here's more info on Troubleshooting TurboTax Desktop Issues and also info from Microsoft on How to Switch Out of 'S' Mode for Windows 11 that may apply to you.

If you need more help, here's how to Contact TurboTax Support.

Thanks! My issue turned out to be firewall related.  I uninstalled, I disabled my firewall, installed TT, then set my firewall to allow TT app, then turned firewall back on, and it appears to work fine.  No more 70001 errors
