Hi - I'm a digital nomad with previous residence and a traveling mailbox in TX. However, I have the ACA health coverage in WI. I've always done my taxes in TX. Will the health insurance subsidy in WI be an issue? Will I have to file a WI tax return? Thanks!
No, you will not be required to file a Wi return if your income is less than $2000. Please review the State of Wisconsin DOR website for further details.
Thanks @DaveF1006 ! So if my company address for Federal tax return is in TX - is it ok for me to be working as a contractor for businesses with EIN in other states (WI, IL)? I'm not sure at what point I'll have to involve other state income tax returns (since TX doesn't require one). I do earn $4-10K for those companies in a year.
@carrietoddbusinessally You need to check the filing requirements for the states that you do work for. Different states have different rules for who needs to file a return. Since you are based in Texas it is only the income from each individual source that you need to worry about.
